Volunteer

Trust exercise...
The Beth Uriel family is full of opportunities for both local and international volunteers. With a staff of only four, the home relies heavily on the assistance of part-time and full-time volunteers.

Local Volunteers
If you are from the Cape Town area and looking to get involved in the good work happening in and around your community, Beth Uriel is just one of many places to check out! Weekly tutoring, Tuesday evening computer classes, Saturday work-days, Me'kasi (marketing, sales and production) and mentoring a family member are all ways that Cape Tonians have been or are currently Volunteers wearing Mekasi gearinvolved in the home. Beth Uriel is particularly suitable for those South Africans looking to be a part of something outside their normal social circles. A real opportunity to discover the amazing diversity this country holds! Contact Lindsay at 021-447-8727 for questions or to set up an initial interview.

International Volunteers
Interested in giving of your time and resources for anywhere from 6 weeks to 12 months? Beth Uriel has a strong international volunteer program hosting up to 25 applicants a year. We have worked closely with student placements (social work and graphic design internships) and civil servants (12 month volunteer placements from Germany) in the past and are happy to take volunteers that come on their own as well.

BoatAs an international volunteer, Beth Uriel will help you get settled into a local backpackers while you find more permanent accommodation. (Which is usually very easy to do as Beth Uriel is a five-minute walk from Observatory... a neighborhood full of accommodation for students and volunteers alike!) Transport to and from the airport isn't an issue as we are happy to collect those looking to spend time with our family. Finally, once accepted as a volunteer, Beth Uriel can assist you with any paperwork you may require (visa) as well as answer any questions you may have about your time in South Africa. (We also have a strong base of former volunteers who would be happy to share their experiences and answer questions you may have.)

Take a look at our volunteer intake criteria (download_criteria_here) and apply today (download_application_here)! All applications should be mailed back to lindsay@bethuriel.co.za with supporting documentation (c.v., letter of motivation and letter of reference).
